what's with the davey downer stuff? something light for dessert...

some of you may be asking, "just who the fuck is this jackass animator to preach to me about constitutional law? WHY DON'T YOU SHUT YOUR BONY CLOWN HOLE BEFORE I COME OVER THERE AND REALLY SHOVE AN ARROW THROUGH YOUR TEMPLE!!!"

alright! i'm not french and you're not a turtleneck, so get off my back.

i thought it might be time to mix it up with some lighter fare. besides, who are animators, if not the heralds of all those dirty little things that nobody wants to spout from their own mouth?

buckle up, butter cup, cause i'm about to support hollywood (yup). what's weirder, i'm about to support disney(ish)...

now, as much as i dislike disney, and walt disney, and disneyland, and disney world, and everything that pixar has done to unfinished disney intellectual properties since the merger, and the fact that john lasseter is becoming the new walt disney (not a good thing), i must point out a few key things here. remember when disney had that big falling out with katzenberg, and he left to start dreamworks with spielberg and geffen? and we all thought (well, i thought) whoa, imagine the movies they'll make. and, well, here we are, i guess, staring down the barrel of another transformers movie, yet another shrek movie, yet another fockers movie, and a puss in boots spinoff. what a meeting of the minds it has been!

meanwhile, pixar has (a few turds admittedly. cars? nice one.) put out two consecutive movies that, while entertaining and shiny for kids to look at, are way heavy stuff. i mean, what kid is really going to get the doomsday motif of wall-E? and why not just call UP "uber bambi"? there was so much death and loss and broken dreams and depression in that movie, i was on the verge of tears the whole time (i ain't ashamed). but both really great movies, don't get me wrong.

but that's the beauty of animation. nobody is putting their face on it, and only other animators like me actually read the credits. we get to say anything we want, anyway we want to say it. if it's done right, a good animator can make anything palatable and possibly hilarious.

so instead of all my davey downer stuff i've been dropping lately, i thought i'd post nothing but fun time suggested watching, and let my fellow animators do the dirty work for me. look out below...
